Erik ten Hag’s men won 4-3 over Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek, while the Irons and Bournemouth drew 1-1.

West Ham United will make the long journey north to face Manchester United in Sunday’s intriguing Premier League match, looking for their first Premier League double in 17 years. Manchester United have the opportunity to leapfrog West Ham United into sixth place in the Premier League table when the two sides meet at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manchester United is back to almost full strength in terms of starting XI, and they are playing some great offensive football again. However, Erik ten Hag’s face is covered in worry lines as a result of their defensive weaknesses. The Red Devils have conceded at least two goals in six of their previous seven games in all competitions.

They will face the Hammers on Sunday after a thrilling 4-3 victory against Wolverhampton in a Premier League classic on Thursday. Marcus Rashford gave Manchester United the lead as early as the fifth minute. Rasmus Hojlund extended their lead. However, a dubious penalty decision in the 71st minute allowed Wolves to come back into the game. United appeared to be leaving the Molineux disheartened, but youngster Kobbie Mainoo had other plans.

After three consecutive 1-0 victory over West Ham at Old Trafford, Manchester United should not keep their capital rivals at bay on Sunday, as they did just before Christmas, based on their recent defensive woes. In terms of the top-flight table, there isn’t much that separates the two teams, and that should be reflected by the sound of the full-time whistle, at which point the two sides might have split four goals in an entertaining draw.

Manchester United Team News

Lisandro Martinez made his first Premier League start since worsening a foot injury in September, but his availability for Sunday has been called into question as he was spotted seeking treatment in the dugout towards the end of the game.

Ten Hag played down his substitution as a precaution, but the hosts are already without Anthony Martial, Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia, though the latter two are practicing on the Carrington pitches and should not be away for long. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is unlikely to make the cut, while Victor Lindelof has a better chance of making the matchday squad, as does Sofyan Amrabat after Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations elimination.

West Ham Team News

Lucas Paqueta’s calf situation has still to be resolved, and Benrahma still has one game of his three-match sentence to serve for his FA Cup red card against Bristol City, but right-back Vladimir Coufal has returned from his own suspension.

Moyes’ backline could also be bolstered by the return of Nayef Aguerd for the same reason as Amrabat, and while Phillips will not be sent to the bench just for his error, Moyes may consider cutting him owing to the rapid turnaround and lack of recent activity.

Head-to-Head

A six-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League is nothing to laugh at, and West Ham deservedly defeated Manchester United 2-0 at the London Stadium on December 23, but they have been beaten 1-0 in each of their last three league visits to the Theatre of Dreams.

Predicted Lineups

West Ham United: Areola; Coufal, Aguerd, Zouma, Emerson; Soucek, Alvarez; Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Cornet; Bowen
