During a campaign rally, former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt, leading tech billionaire Elon Musk to voice his support.
Shots were fired early this morning as Trump began his speech. The incident is being investigated as a potential assassination attempt. In response, Musk expressed his unwavering support for Trump.
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on X, the social media platform he owns, sharing a video of Trump pumping his fist while being escorted by Secret Service agents.
Musk further remarked, “The last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt,” highlighting Trump’s resilience.
The shooting occurred shortly after Trump took the stage at his final campaign rally. The 78-year-old grimaced and clutched his right ear, blood soon visible on his face. Despite the injury, Trump turned back to the crowd, repeatedly raising his fist as security officials surrounded him, creating what is set to become an iconic image.
President Joe Biden led the condemnation of the attack, expressing his dismay over the violence that left Trump wounded and a bystander dead.
“There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. It’s one of the reasons why we have to unite this country. We cannot condone this,” Biden stated.
Former President Barack Obama echoed Biden’s sentiments, emphasizing that there is “absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy.”
The incident has not only intensified the current political climate but also highlighted the urgent need for unity and the rejection of violence in the democratic process.
