Mohun Bagan super Giant are winless in their last four games while Hyderabad FC haven’t won a single game this season.
Mohun Bagan super Giant set to take on bottom placed Hyderabad FC in kolkata on February 10, 2024 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium. Mohun Bagan super Giant drew their last game against rivals East Bengal courtesy of goals from Armando Sadiku and Dimitri Petratos. The Mariners are currently winless in their last four games and sit on 20 points placed 5th in the Indian Super League(ISL) league table.
In front of their fans, the Mariners would try to resume their winning ways. Despite the fact that The Nizams only have one foreign player available, Green and Maroon coach Antonio Habas made it clear on Wednesday that he will not take the Hyderabad team lightly. Hyderabad FC on the other hand lost their last game against FC Goa 2-0 and are currently in the bottom of the table accumulating just four points out of their 13 games.
‘The Nizams’ have picked up just 1 point from their last 6 games and a win against the Mariners wouldn’t change their current position in the league standings. A major concern for Thangboi Singto for the remainder of the ISL season will be their financial worries. Hyderabad FC are currently on the verge of bankruptcy and thus were forced to offload five foreigners and veteran Indian players like Sana Singh, Hitesh Sharma and Nikhil Poojary.

Anwar Ali and Sahal Samad returned for the defending champions in their last game against rivals East Bengal but in the 13th minute Anwar Ali was forced to be taken off the field in what looked like a hamstring issue. Aussie defender Brendan Hamil, who returned for the Mariners after getting injured against FC Goa, was also taken off by coach Antonio Lopez Habas due to an ankle injury. Both the star Mariners centre backs are expected to be out for 2-3 weeks.
Hugo Boumous wasn’t named in the squad for Mohun Bagan Super Giant in their last game against East Bengal due to some personal reasons. The French midfielder along with his teammate Joni Kauko was forced to watch the game from the stands. Hugo Boumous returned to training on Tuesday morning and he might be a contender in the Mariners starting lineup on Saturday when they face the Nizams. Previous match goalscorer Armando Sadiku along with midfielder Deepak Tangri will be suspended for this match.
Hyderabad FC Team News
Hyderabad FC lost a major chunk of first team players due to financial issues. Key foreigners like Jonathan Moya and Joe Knowles, among others, were forced to terminate their contracts due to non-payment of their salaries. Several Indian players ,including Hyderabad FC’s Super Cup captain Nim Dorjee, were sold to other ISL clubs.
Thangboi Singto in an interview said that finishing in the middle of the table would be the target for the team from Deccan. The Nizams are currently left with just one foreigner, Joao Victor, for the remaining part of the season along with several young and inexperienced Indian players.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant won the last 3 encounters played between the two sides including a match in the recently held Kalinga Super Cup. The Mariners won both encounters played in VYBK stadium in the ISL last season. It’s been almost a year since Hyderabad FC have defeated The Mariners.
